Eight experts from four countries gathered at the Berufsförderungswerk Düren (Vocational Training Center) to take an important step forward together as part of the ERASMUS+ project “VIgo4AI – Visually Impaired go for Artificial Intelligence.” In line with proven educational practices, the three newly developed course modules for people with visual impairments were carefully tested and further refined.

The focus was on practical content that gives the target group real access to digital progress:
AI-supported apps for visually impaired people that make everyday life noticeably easier,
barrier-free use of modern AI chatbots such as ChatGPT or Gemini,
and a module that enables participants to create their own AI agents and thus expand their digital independence.
The active participation of visually impaired and blind colleagues was particularly valuable, as they contributed their experience and thus had a decisive influence on the quality of the materials – an approach that has always ensured sustainable results in vocational training.
Next year, the courses will be offered in the local languages through partner organizations. The common goal remains clear: to empower people with visual impairments so that they can use AI competently, independently, and effectively. This is an important contribution to enabling everyone to keep up with digital developments.
